Caribbean Regional Manager

Leon Dawson currently serves as the Caribbean Regional Manager at Global Financial Integrity, based in Belize. In this role, he leads relationship-building and regional research efforts across the Caribbean, with a focus on strengthening transparency, accountability, and financial integrity. He is the liaison for projects in Belize aimed at increasing domestic resource mobilization (DRM) by promoting corporate, natural resource, and professional integrity through public policy advocacy and capacity-building initiatives in both the public and private sectors.

Leon’s responsibilities include cultivating strategic partnerships, engaging with key stakeholders, and supporting the development of policies that tackle illicit financial flows and promote economic resilience. His work bridges critical areas of governance, anti-corruption, and environmental protection, advancing GFI’s mission for a transparent international financial system.

He holds a Master of Science in Public Sector Management and a Professional Diploma in Governance and Public Innovation, both from the University of the West Indies (UWI), as well as a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Economics from UWI. Leon brings a unique combination of academic training and hands-on expertise in project management, conservation, governance, and anti-corruption, making him a key contributor to regional efforts for sustainable development and financial integrity.
