A ‘One-Stop Hub’ for Information and Resources on Economic Transparency
WASHINGTON, DC – The Task Force on Financial Integrity and Economic Development has launched FinancialTaskForce.org to serve as a “one-stop hub” for the Task Force and its work on increasing transparency and accountability in the global financial system, announced Task Force officiating member Global Financial Integrity (GFI) today.
“From up-to-the-minute news, to live-video feeds, to the latest government and civil society reports-the Web site is a comprehensive and cutting-edge source for all things related to economic transparency,” said GFI Director Raymond Baker.
In addition to the Web site, the Task Force has also launched a blog, hosted on the Task Force site, which will feature daily commentary and analysis from Task Force members and other high-ranking, influential experts in the fields of global economics, financial regulation, international and U.S. fiscal policy, and more.
“The Web site will be an essential resource for learning about the latest developments and core issues surrounding economic transparency while the Task Force blog will be a daily dose of the must-know-news and behind-the-scenes insights from Task Force members and special guest contributors,” said GFI Managing Director Tom Cardamone.
Task Force membership includes international civil society groups, Tax Justice Network, Transparency International, Global Witness, Christian Aid, and Global Financial Integrity with participation from the governments of Norway, Germany, France, Spain, Chile, Denmark, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, and the Secretariat of the Leading Group on Solidarity Levies to Fund Development which includes members from more than 50 countries, and the Ford Foundation.
The site’s focus on financial transparency is delineated by the Five Priorities articulated in the Task Force mission statement which include:
- Trade Mispricing,
- Country-by-Country Reporting of Profits and Tax,
- Beneficial Ownership,
- Automatic Tax Information Exchange, and
- Anti-Money Laundering
