Global Financial Integrity

The implementation of beneficial ownership registries has become increasingly important worldwide in recent years. In line with Recommendations 24 and 25 of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), an increasing number of countries have promoted legislative reforms aimed at identifying the natural persons behind corporate structures and vehicles.

In this context, we are pleased to invite you to our webinar “Beneficial Ownership Registers in Latin America and the Caribbean: Current Status, Challenges and Perspectives”, which will take place next July 7. During the event we will present a report under the same name, prepared by Global Financial Integrity (GFI), and we will discuss with international experts about the progress, challenges and perspectives in the region in terms of beneficial ownership transparency.

The report offers a balance of the current status in 38 countries and jurisdictions in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), with emphasis on:

• Implementation of centralized registries
• Access to registered information
• Data verification strategies
• Inclusion of unincorporated structures
• Use of information in public procurement processes.

We will have representatives from the Latin American Financial Action Task Force (GAFILAT), the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF), Open Ownership (OO) and Global Financial Integrity (GFI). The panelists will share perspectives from their areas of expertise, allowing to identify points of convergence, shared challenges and opportunities to move towards a common agenda that strengthens transparency and regional cooperation.

The event will be simultaneously translated into English/Spanish.
